You cannot stroll through Mothercare without noticing all of the fantastic and wonderful objects that parents-to-be absolutely need before the new infant arrives. Movie stars nurseries are on display in magazines for all the world to see, meanwhile you are left wondering how you'll be able to afford an adorable little childs room for the little one. Everything is incredibly expensive, layettes are custom-made and walls are painted with one-of-a-kind murals. The list of must-haves is infinite from clothes to furniture, and accessories to toys. It's enough to break any account.

I'm here to tell you to reject the temptation of thinking that your baby has to have the whole lot new. Most of the things that you buy will be used for a very short time. Save your money for things which will be getting used for a lot longer. And use your personal talents to produce a one-of-a-kind nursery for your little one.

There is ways to find everything you will need, and many of the things you really want, and still have money left over. You will have fun locating things and realize that you have been very levelheaded about your new baby's gear. Above all, you have got to think 'safety'.

You won't need to do the whole lot before the baby arrives, it is a great idea to have a list of the safety issues which need to be addressed when you get your baby's gear. A lot of companies will and do offer a lot of great recommendations on buying baby cribs, baby strollers, high chairs, and car seats on line. Whether you buy the most expensive products or borrow from mates, make sure you do not ignore current safety regulations. Older items, borrowed or picked up in a sale, may not meet with the current safety standards. These are not a bargain. Pass them up and obtain items which are safe for the baby.

You can create a gorgeous baby's room on a medium sized budget.

Use Hand-Me-Downs:

The better way to save you cash on nursery furnishings is to accept gifts from other new mothers. Many parents are happy to pass along things that their baby has outgrown or does not require anymore. If you have a good friend or relative with a baby 3 to 6 months older than yours, they could potentially be the perfect ones to ask. Things will be up to date and their child will have no use for those items. An infant bassinette or cradle is helpful for less than about 3 months. After that, their baby will be in a crib.

Next, if things are not offered as gifts, ask to borrow the key items you'll need. You may have a friend with a 3 year old who does not need the crib anymore. They're going to be particularly happy to have you store the crib for a few years or until they want it again.

Lots of people have baby items that they just do not know how to get rid of. They may not be ready to totally give them away, or they may think they will use the items again. Maybe they do not want to go to the trouble of having a garage sale. Ask them to pass the items your way. You might be able to make good use of them.

I have used these tips myself on many painting projects over the years. I frequently go to a company called Painters and Decorators London. They have some great ideas on how to save you money.
